Mr. Lober's Room - 3rd & 4th Grade
I was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and grew up in Jackson, Wisconsin, attending grade school at David’s Star Lutheran. I am a 1986 graduate of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School and a 1990 graduate of Dr. Martin Luther College, graduating with a B.S. in Education. My first assignment was a one-year call to teach grades 7-8 on the Apache Reservation at East Fork Lutheran in Whiteriver, Arizona. I was reassigned the following year to Immanuel Lutheran in Hutchinson, Minnesota, where I taught grades 3-5. While in Hutchinson I met my wife Charlene. We were married in 1994 and our daughter, Victoria, was born a year later. In 1997, I accepted a call to teach grades 3-5 at St. Paul Lutheran in South Haven, Michigan. I have been blessed to serve in my current call here at St. John’s since 2000.
While I am currently serving as the 3rd-4th grade teacher, over the years I have taught in grades 3-8 and have also taught some departmentalized classes in grades K-2. During the first 10 years of my teaching career most of my extra duties centered around sports, serving as an athletic director and coaching multiple sports. Upon coming to St. John’s my focus shifted to the music department, where I serve as a director of multiple choirs, head-organist, and co-director of our school’s annual musical. I still get my coaching “fix” having been the coach of the local middle school football team for over 20 years. During the basketball season you can also hear me as the “voice of the Eagles” during our home games, as well as announcing Dodgeland high school football and basketball games.
My wife has been doing in-home childcare for over 25 years after spending a number of years in the business world in various positions. She also serves our congregation as the Special Events/Volunteer Coordinator. Our daughter, Victoria, and son-in-law, Seth, live and work in the Appleton area.
I am an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports teams and one Minnesota team. (No, it’s not the Vikings!) I enjoy hunting and fishing, vacationing with family throughout the country, and going to the movies.
I consider it a privilege that the Lord has allowed me to serve for more than 35 years in the public ministry. May he continue to bless us as we share His Word with the next generation.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. Romans 1:16
